Current mood: accomplished

So when I'm at the caricature booth, and I'm not actually doing a caricature, I have two options. I may either stand and walk around the booth, or I may sit and draw. If I'm sitting I must be drawing.

HOW COOL IS THAT OH MAN it's GREAT motivation!!! I get more drawing done at work than I do at home, how ironic :p The one problem is that since it's a family environment, I can't draw furry smut ;__; But that's good, it's giving me clothing practice!

The paper that we work with is BIG (11x14) and we have lots of permanent black markrs and pens to play with. This is also giving me plenty of opportunity to practice my inking!

Here is something I worked up on Sunday. This takes up pretty much the entire page, and took for FREAKING EVER to ink, with a copic brush pen. THAT was a challenge too, let me tell ya!!

Not putting this one under a cut coz it's small and I just love it too much. I'm really just ridiculously happy with this one (although I can still spot a number of flaws).

I plan to do the ol' Four Seasons routine, with all vixens. HOHOHO can you tell I'm a furry? I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED!!

I'll proably color these with markers.

I have a 14x17" sketchbook, and when I called it 'big' in front of my last life drawing instructor she laughed at me. :(

About paper. 11x14 inches? I never saw such ones. If I remember right, A3 is ~ 17x19 and A4 is 12x13. :| Tell me, please, about such format.
And about four seasons. I've seen two pictures of faerie-looking vixens, representing spring and autumn on yerf. They was pretty resembling they're seasons. I wish you'll do that work cooler.
Sorry for my english and other thing, that I did wrong.

There's no such thing as A3, A4, etc. in the states. I wish there was. Our standard writing paper size is 8.5x11". I have to order A3-sized Daler-Rowney sketchbooks from overseas, and they sure do get 'spensive that way. If you go to dickblick.com you'll find a wealth of 14x11 and other sketchbooks in American sizes.

8.5x11 is more likely A4 but 2.5 inches shorter. How people asking for paper formats they need in shops? By naming width and height?
There you just have to know actual name of format. Standard for copybooks (1 page) is A3. Twice bigger - A4 is for technical designs and scetch-drawing. Doubled size is A3, that's for drafts and pictures. A2 and A1 are biggest, that one can buy in the shop. They're used for drafting of assemblages and huge pictures. Ao and further are used for posters. So, wiki entry about sizes.
I've worked with A1 once in life: that was a project of manufacture department, term work in the university.

I spent a few years living in England, so I'm familiar with the standardized paper formats. I have a few A3-sized sketchbooks of my own, as I said.

But yes, when you go to an art supply store here you do have to tell them the specific dimensions that you want, instead of a standardized format.

I like Aquabee's sketchbooks because they take watercolor and unlike watercolor sketchbooks they come with 60 pages instead of just 12, but you can only get them in American sizes. I like Daler-Rowney's A3-sized hardcover ringbound sketchbooks because they're the biggest sketchbooks I can fit comfortably into my bag and still be able to close it.

actually, I was wrong. I just measured, and it's 12" by 14.5, just about (I didn't have a real ruler, I had to estimate).

I saw those vixens too, they are by Reaper Fox! I will do my best to make these look pretty too.

Don't apologize for your english! Good work for being able to communicate in a language other than your mother tongue, I wouldn't know where to begin. What is your native language? And just to help, it would be "They were pretty," since vixens is plural. If it is just one, it is "She was pretty".

Russian, cool!! I know one phrase in russian, and I'm sure I am gonna spell it wrong:

Izh vnitzi, tsvaritch militzianier; Skajitzi pajalosta, gdyeya kraznya plojitz?

I actually have a question for you. Why are there so many russian illustrators?? I know that this is a generalization, and that's usually a bad thing, but I just see so many incredible russian artists, and I wonder what it is about being russian that breeds such creativity. Thought you may have some insights :D

:D Yeah it's wrong spelled. It means "sorry, comrade militioner, could you tell me, please, where is red square". But now comrade is unnecessary, because of democracy. It spells like " Izvinitee, tovarish' (that one is for comrade) militsioneer, skajitee, pozhalooysta gde krasnaya ploshad'". I hope this explains something.

Well, Russians are very creative nation. I'm not a patriot, but everyone say that. As for me, I'm not so creative. I've wrote some music albums (that haven't been released at this moment, but I'm trying.), wrote some short stories (one have been printed in local magazine), now working on the novel. So, I'm always been impressed by visual artists. When I was child I was influenced by soviet animated films, after that, by imported animations. And not so long after that I was trying to draw something. And at current date I can't draw anything worthy. That's why I'm always seeking for the great artists. Especially furry artists. And there are some cool russian furry artists, that I don't remember, but have links and emails.
Anyway, frankly speaking, I don't have a clue, why you are thinking, that russians are creative. It's more like national stereotypes, I think.

you airbrush thsirts and do characatures? cool i'm trying to switch to art full time but it's hard. as for my airbrushing i've been using stencis i make for most of them, but i'm starting to do more loose stuff(the icon pic is a lifesized vamp i did with brushes then used airbrush on top of)

Yeah, the company that handles the airbrushed t-shirts also owns the caricature booth. Really excellent company, based out of houston Texas. The owner loves me, it's a pretty sweet setup :p

if you are trying to do tshirts comercially, I recommend looking into iron on transfers. They are invaluable for those designs that require consistency and detailed linework, the stuff that you just can't do with a stencil. There is a particular paper where the image can be transferred onto many shirts before it fades.

I need to experiment more with using airbrush in my traditional art. Caricaturing is gonna help, I am using much thinner pigments in much more neutral hues (for skintones, hair colors, etc). I plan on playing with it on saturday.

Well, that's art for you - you're the expert here, and you'll notice those little things when you do them. And then you'll work to prevent them in the future, making already good work evolve into something that much better! ^_^
